PHILIPPI -- Trevor Mullett rushed for 120 yards and four scores as North Marion claimed a 47-24 win over Philip Barbour Friday night at George Byrer Field at BC Bank Park.

The Colts, who were plagued by four turnovers on the night, jumped out to a 6-0 lead when Logan Beam broke free for a 71-yard score just 1:05 into the contest.

Beam had 187 yards on the night on 15 totes.

But the Huskies answered with a 50-yard run by freshman Brian Poindexter and a 22-yard scamper by Mullett to take a 14-6 lead with 5:33 still left in the opening quarter.

Cam Bennett then took a pass over the middle from Braylyn Edwards and outraced the North Marion defense for a 51-yard touchdown to bring Philip Barbour within, 14-12, inside the first minute of the second quarter.

But on the first play from scrimmage after the ensuing kickoff, Mullett broke free for a 58-yard score.

After the second of consecutive fumbles by the Colts, Mullett added another TD run to give the Huskies a 27-12 lead at the intermission.

Philip Barbour (2-1) made it 27-18 with 6 minutes left in the third quarter when Edwards hit Bennett for a 42-yard touchdown.

A Toby Michael 32-yard TD pass to Cyrus Collins and 1-yard plunge by Mullett made it 40-18.

Mason Jones, who had 52 yards rushing on the night, added a 26-yard scoring run for the Colts, who host Liberty next Friday for homecoming.

North Marion (3-0) entertains Fairmont Senior on the same night in a rematch from last year's Class AA state title game won by the Polar Bears.
