Tigers 11th in first playoff ratings

Colts, Mountain Lions among top 10 in their respective classes

PARKERSBURG -- The first WVSSAC football playoff ratings including four classes was revealed on Tuesday afternoon.

Elkins and first-year coach Chad Ware are 11th in the Class AAA ratings, which is filled with several fellow Big 10 Conference members.

The Tigers are off to a 2-1 start heading into Friday night's battle at old rival Buckhannon-Upshur.

Bridgeport (3-0) tops triple-A, while Fairmont Senior (3-0) is second, North Marion (3-0) fifth, Robert C. Byrd (2-1) seventh and East Fairmont (2-1) 16th.

The Polar Bears and Huskies battle Friday night in Rachel.

Philip Barbour (2-1) finds itself at sixth in Class AAA as the Colts seek a second straight playoff appearance.

Liberty (1-2) is 12th and visits Philip Barbour for homecoming at George Byrer Field at BC Bank Park on Friday evening.

Moorefield (1-2) is 11th and Lincoln (1-2) 15th.

Roane County (3-0) is first in the initial Class AA playoff ratings.

In Class A, Tucker County (3-0) is tied with Webster County (3-0) for eighth.

Petersburg (3-0) is first, with Pendleton County (2-1) at 11th.

Spring Mills (3-0) tops the Class AAAA ratings, followed by Martinsburg (3-0) and Hedgesville (2-0).

The top 16 teams in each class qualify for the playoffs.
