Mountain Lions stay perfect with win over Southern

PARSONS -- Sam Marks threw a trio of touchdown passes and Jared Reall scored three times on the ground to power Class A, No. 3 Tucker County to a 62-12 win over Southern (Md.) Friday night at R.H. Armstrong Memorial Field at Class of 1984 Alumni Stadium.

The Mountain Lions, who improved to 8-0 with the victory, jumped out to a 6-0 lead at the 8:55 mark of the first quarter when Reall found the end zone on a 5-yard scamper.

After forcing a Ram turnover when Reid Kisamore collected an interception, Tucker County made it 12-0 when Marks tossed a 91-yard touchdown pass to Garrett Wilfong.

A 1-yard touchdown run from Marks made it 20-0 after a two-point conversion and the Mountain Lions pushed the lead to 28-0 when Marks threw another touchdown strike to Wilfong, this time from 11 yards out with 10:44 left in the first half.

Marks' third touchdown pass of the opening half, an 85-yard toss to Kisamore, extended Tucker County's lead to 36-0 with 5:59 remaining in the half.

A 4-yard touchdown run from Reall with 1:50 remaining in the half gave the Mountain Lions a 42-0 advantage at intermission.

Real broke free for a 62-yard touchdown run on Tucker County's opening possession of the second half as the lead ballooned to 50-0.

A 55-yard punt return for a touchdown from Trevan Bonner then extended the Mountain Lion lead to 56-0.

Southern finally got on the board with 1:53 remaining in the third quarter when Brayden Rodeheaver scored on a 5-yard run.

Tucker County answered when Lucas Barb raced in for a 74-yard touchdown to make it 62-6 with 19 seconds left to play in the third stanza.

The Rams (2-5) capped off the scoring in the contest with 8:13 left in regulation when Tripp Wolfe completed a 20-yard touchdown pass to Reece Tasker.

The Mountain Lions are open next week before visiting Petersburg on Nov. 1.
