Elkins High swim teams capture wins over Fairmont Senior

ELKINS -- The Elkins High School boys and girls swim teams posted wins over Big 10 Conference foe Fairmont Senior Wednesday evening at Davis & Elkins College's George A. Myles Pool.

Freshman Aleah Irons won two events and was part of two first-place relay teams to pace the Lady Tigers to a 79-64 victory.

Irons turned in a time of 1:16.56 to take the 100-yard breaststroke and finished in 6:01.20 to cross the line first in the 500 freestyle.

She also joined Emma Ujvagi, Lilly Irons and Lilly Anger in placing first in both the 200 medley relay (2:00.39) and 200 freestyle relay (1:48.60).

Lilly Anger swam to first in the 50 freestyle (26.46), Lilly Irons first in the 100 butterfly (1:06.23), Leah Ours first in the 100 freestyle (1:00.71 and the team of Anger, Raighan Carte Hall, Sophia Rhodes and Ours captured the 400 freestyle relay with an effort of 4:17.02.

The EHS boys claimed a 68-60 win over the Polar Bears as Isaac Anger won both the 200 IM (1:59.30) and 100 backstroke (56.13), Andres Masten the 100 butterfly (1:00.03), Briar Higgins the 100 freestyle (1:06.98) and Joel Casto the 500 freestyle (5:42.22).

Elkins will be idle until hosting Morgantown at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 8.
