Matthews buckets 24 points as Lady Mountain Lions pull past TV

MILL CREEK -- Tucker County pulled away in the second half to hand Tygarts Valley a 68-33 setback Tuesday night in the season opener for both squads.

The Lady Mountain Lions, under first-year coach Alisha McCune, led 14-7 at halftime and 35-20 at the intermission.

Tucker County then outscored the Lady Bulldogs 13-8 in the third quarter and 20-5 in the final canto.

Returning all-stater Raven Matthews bucketed 24 points for the Lady Mountain Lions, followed by Addi Moats with 12 and Mayah Gross with 10.

Sarah Defibaugh led Tygarts Valley with 14.

Tucker County is slated to visit East Hardy on Thursday, while the Lady Bulldogs travel to Pendleton County on Friday.
