Lady Bulldogs top Union; Tucker girls pull away from East Hardy

MILL CREEK -- Sarah Defibaugh scored 17 points as Class A, No. 5 Tygarts Valley claimed a 51-36 victory over regional opponent Union Tuesday evening at Weber-Wamsley Court.

The Lady Bulldogs, who led 28-16 at the intermission, are now 8-4 on the season.

Summer Lewis-Smith and Alyssa Swecker added nine points apiece for Tygarts Valley.

The Lady Tigers (2-7) were paced by Chanelle Sutton's 12 points.

The Lady Bulldogs return to the court Thursday at Clay-Battelle for a Mason Dixon Conference contest.

HAMBLETON -- Class A, No. 1 Tucker County pulled away in the fourth quarter to hand PVC and regional foe East Hardy a 59-39 setback on Tuesday night.

The Lady Mountain Lions (9-2) held a 31-27 lead after three quarters. They outscored the Lady Cougars, 28-12, in the final frame.

Raven Matthews tossed in 16 points and Mayah Gross added 15 -- 10 coming in the fourth quarter -- to pace Tucker County.

Brooklyn Tinnell fired in a game-high 24 points for East Hardy, which is now 4-6 and visits Union on Thursday.

The Lady Mountain Lions travel to Moorefield the same evening.
