EHS basketball teams win on Senior Night

ELKINS -- Maddie Belan fired in 24 points as Elkins celebrated Senior Night with a 52-38 win over Buckhannon-Upshur Saturday at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.

Maddy Zirkle added 12 points for the Lady Tigers, who led 11-10 after one quarter and 27-16 at halftime.

Alyssa Abel had 17 points, including going over 1,000 for her career, to pace the Lady Bucs, who dropped to 8-12 and will return to Elkins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday for a rematch.

Elkins improved to 12-8 and hosts Keyser at 5:45 p.m. today.

Elkins 45, North Marion 39

ELKINS -- Just before the EHS girls took to the floor to face Buckhannon-Upshur on Saturday, the Tigers claimed a 45-39 win over North Marion to even their record to 9-9.

Lucas D'Angelo and Levi Wanless, two of the senior players honored on the night, led Elkins with 17 and 15 points, respectively.

The Tigers led 11-5 after one quarter and 27-15 at halftime.

Elkins will host East Fairmont at 7:30 p.m. today.
