Lady Irish rally in the fourth quarter to get past Tucker

HAMBLETON -- Class AA, No. 5 Charleston Catholic rallied in the fourth quarter to get past Class A, No. 2 Tucker County, 51-47, on Friday evening.

The Lady Mountain Lions led 27-21 at halftime and 38-35 after three quarters, but were outscored 16-9 in the final frame.

Raven Matthews had 17 points to lead Tucker County, which led 15-13 after one quarter and took a 27-21 lead into the intermission break after outscoring the visitors, 12-8, in the second quarter.

Mayah Gross chipped in 15 points.

Ali Wilcox led the Lady Irish with 17 points, followed by Ilyuana Evans with 11 and Molly Messer with nine.

The Lady Mountain Lions (11-4) return to action at 4:30 p.m. Monday against regional opponent Pendleton County.

Charleston Catholic, which is now 12-3, will visit Lewis County at noon today.
