Strong third quarter pushes No. 7 Cee Bees past No. 5 TV

MILL CREEK — Preston Luzader bucketed 24 points and Class A, No. 7 Clay-Battelle used a strong third quarter to get past No. 5 Tygarts Valley. 52-48, Monday night in Mason Dixon Conference play at Weber-Wamsley Court.

“Both teams played hard,” Bulldogs coach Tom Wamsley said. “We had opportunities but just couldn’t take advantage of all of them.”

Tygarts Valley jumped out to a 12-7 lead after one quarter and led 22-18 at the halftime break.

But the Cee Bees used a 19-11 scoring advantage in the third to lead 37-33 entering the final frame.

Braden Ponceroff added 13 points for C-B (9-4).

Jacob Wamsley tossed in 14 for the Bulldogs, who are now 9-3 and visit Notre Dame this evening.
