Tucker County girls capture win over Moorefield

HAMBLETON -- Three players landed in double figures to lift Class A, No. 4 Tucker County to a 50-33 win over PVC foe Moorefield on Thursday night.

Raven Matthews and MaKenna Evans hit for 13 apiece for the Lady Mountain Lions. Mayah Gross added 12.

Korbin Keplinger led the Lady Yellow Jackets with 10 points.

Tucker County led 11-8 after the first quarter, before holding Moorefield to just one point in the second frame to construct a 20-9 halftime advantage.

The lead grew to 38-22 after three quarters.

The Lady Mountain Lions ended the regular season with a 14-5 record.

They will be the top seed in the Class A, Region II tourney and will host No. 8 Harman at 7 p.m. next Friday.

The Lady Yellow Jackets fell to 7-11 and are slated to visit Liberty today.

They are the fifth seed in the Class AA, Region and will visit No. 4 Petersburg at 7 p.m. next Friday.
