Members of the RAYS swim team compete in championships

MORGANTOWN — Four members of the RAYS swim team competed in the 2025 West Virginia State Short Course Championships held recently at the Mylan Park Aquatic Center.

Competing for the Rays were Lily Helmick (11-12), Kyan George and Dorsey Cutright (13-14) and Joel Casto (15-over).

George place in the top five in seven events and was sixth in another.

He was first in the 50-yard butterfly (26.92), second in the 50 freestyle, third in both the 200 and 50 backstroke, fourth in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly and sixth in the 200 freestyle.

George had seven personal bests and scored 45 points for the Rays.

George has been chosen for the Southern Zones team and will travel to Orlando, Florida, this summer to compete in the Long Course Age Group Championships.

Cutright was third in the 50 butterfly, eighth in the 50 backstroke and 100 butterfly and 11th in the 100 breaststroke, while Casto was sixth in the 50 breaststroke and 10th in the 100 breaststroke and Helmick swam in the 100 freestyle.

The team was coached by Eric Anger.
