CHARLESTON — Philip Barbour’s Izzy Knotts was named to the Class AA, all-state second team announced today.

Knotts, a sophomore forward, averaged 14 points per game in helping lead the Lady Colts to the state tournament for the fourth straight season.

Teammate Finley Carpenter and Petersburg’s Addison Kitzmiller earned honorable-mention laurels.

State champion Charleston Catholic, meanwhile, placed Mary Rushworth and Molly Messer on the first unit of the West Virginia Sports Writers Association’s 50th annual all-state team.

The captain of the first-team all-state team is Wheeling Central’s Kaitlyn Blake, who is joined on the first unit by teammate Seneca Heller.

James Monroe was the other school to see multiple players on the first team — Maggie Boroski and Mya Dunlap.

Mingo Central’s Addie Smith finishes her historic career as a three-time Class AA all-state selection.

St. Marys guard Addie Davis, Wyoming East’s Cadee Blackburn and Williamstown’s Faith Pickens were the final three members of the first team.

Wooden plaques in the shape of West Virginia that include the player’s name, school, licensed WVSWA logo and year of the honoree are available to all-state first-team, second-team and honorable-mention selections and can be purchased from the Bear Wood Company through WVSWA.org or Bearwoodcompany.com.
