ELKINS -- A fourth-inning scoring barrage lifted Grafton to a 13-3 win over Elkins Thursday night at Robin Harvey Memorial Field.
The Bearcats held a 4-2 advantage before erupting for nine runs in the fourth frame.
Greyson Reamezan, Noah Nestor and Chase Kinsey had RBI singles in the inning, while four runs crossed on errors and John Gouzd and Carter Gillespie drew bases-loaded walks.
Gouzd went five innings to earn the win, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out five.
Drew Hinzman and Isaac Shepler both saw time on the hill for the Tigers, who were plagued by six miscues on the evening.
Braden Cooper had two hits and Hinzman an RBI in the setback.
Elkins (3-15) visits Pendleton County at 6 p.m. today.
University 16, B-U 0
MORGANTOWN -- Tommy Montague hit a pair of homers and drove in seven runs as University defeated Buckhannon-Upshur, 16-0, on Thursday.
Jacob Kennison gave up just two hits, struck out four and didn't walk a batter in going the first four innings to earn the win. Daniel Grabo pitched the final inning, fanning one.
Brody McDaniels and Jerin Westfall had hits for the Bucs, who dropped to 7-11 and will host Fairmont Senior at 4:30 p.m. Saturday for a Big 10 Conference encounter.
Spring Mills 17, Pendleton 7
MARTINSBURG -- Landon Stanley had six RBIs on three hits to lead Spring Mills to a 17-7 win over Pendleton County in six innings on Thursday.
Stanley had a pair of doubles, including a bases-clearing connection in the sixth inning, for the Cardinals, who led 9-2 before the Wildcats plated five runs in the fourth to get back into the contest.
But Spring Mills tacked on three runs in the fifth and five more in the sixth to end the game due to the 10-run mercy rule.
James Vincell and Mason Harper had two RBIs each for Pendleton County. Harper and Caleb Armentrout had two hits each.
Will Smith took the loss, while Brayden Clark went the first 3 1/3 innings to garner the win.
The Wildcats (6-9) are slated to host Elkins at 6 p.m. today.
