Colts roll to 10-1 win over Rebels

PHILIPPI -- Landyn Carpenter cracked a grand slam in the third inning to power Philip Barbour to a 10-1 win over Ritchie County on Wednesday evening.

Carpenter finished with three hits and five RBIs for the Colts, who led 5-0 after two innings and 6-0 after four frames.

They blew the game open with four more runs in the fifth.

Tyler Sisson added three RBIs, including a run-scoring triple, in the first to start the scoring.

Three Philip Barbour hurlers combined to limit the Rebels to just six hits.

Kale Wolfe went the first three innings to earn the win, giving up one hit and fanning seven with one walk.

Jack Wilson went three frames, surrendering one run on five hits, striking out four and not walking a batter.

Dayton Morrison worked one hitless inning with one strikeout.

Brayson Hayes took the loss in. He allowed five runs on three hits over 2 1/3 innings, fanning three and walking four.

Tony McBrayer had the lone RBI for Ritchie.

The Colts (8-0) remain home at 5:30 p.m. today to face Fairmont Senior in a Big 10 Conference matchup.
