Doddridge uses big third inning to hold off TV
WEST UNION — Doddridge County erupted for 11 runs in the third inning to hand Tygarts Valley a 12-8 setback on Tuesday night.
Tygarts Valley led 3-1 after Ian Harris cracked a two-run single but Doddridge County used just three hits in its third-inning outburst, taking advantage of errors and walks
Caleb Sutton had a two-run double and Landon Clevenger a two-run single during the uprising.
TV answered with five runs in the fourth, as Kaden Moore had a bases-clearing double, Austin Teter an RBI double and Adams Woods drew a bases-loaded walk to cut the lead to 12-8.
Sutton finished 3 for 4 with three RBIs for the hosts.
Jaxon Drennen added a pair of safeties in the loss.
Harris was tagged with the loss in 2 1/3 innings of action. He gave up seven runs on three hits and fanned one.
Moore finished in relief, giving up no runs on three hits and recording four strikeouts.
Luke Rokisky went three innings to earn the win, allowing three runs on four hits with four strikeouts.
Tygarts Valley is slated to visit Tucker County at 6 p.m. Thursday.
