Lady Bucs fall to Lewis, get walk-off win against BHS

WESTON -- Buckhannon-Upshur dropped an 8-6 verdict to Lewis County Tuesday in Big 10 Conference action.

The Lady Bucs had tied the game at 6-6 in the fourth on a two-run single from Madi Knabenshue and Kynnedy Marple's run-producing single.

The Minutemaids answered in the home half on a RBI sacrifice fly from Ashley Crook and a solo homer from Jaelyn Smith to take the lead for good.

Becca Pastorius had three RBIs for B-U, while Taylor Spratt had a pair of hits.

Crook earned the win in a complete-game effort, giving up eight hits and fanning four.

Pastorius was tagged with the loss, working 3 1/3 innings, surrendering two runs on four hits and fanning three.

Marple went the first 2 2/3 frames, giving up six runs (three earned) on six hits and striking out three.

On Monday, Marple's two-run double gave the Lady Bucs a 9-8 walk-off win over visiting Bridgeport.

Knabenshue had three hits and two RBIs in the win and Kristine Frye a pair of RBIs.
