FRANKLIN — Tygarts Valley dropped a doubleheader to Pendleton County on Friday evening.

The Lady Wildcats took the opener, 17-1, as Jenna Smith knocked in six runs.

Avery Townsend added three hits.

Susan Vincell went all three innings to earn the win, allowing just one hit, fanning five with no walks.

Alyssa Swecker was tagged with the loss.

Kailen Yokum had a hit and Lilly Lanham an RBI for the Lady Bulldogs.

In the nightcap, Pendleton County erupted for 14 runs in the first inning en route to a 22-6 win.

Vincell collected six RBIs on the evening, while Townsend and Baylee Beechler three RBIs apiece and Chesnee Colaw three hits.

Townsend had an inside-the-park homer and a triple.

Vincell earned the win in two innings of work, striking out four.

Lanham took the loss.

Hallie Ellis had a two-run double for Tygarts Valley. Kailen Yokum went 2 for 2 for an RBI.

The Lady Bulldogs fell to 2-5 and are slated to host Highland County (Va.) at 6 p.m. Monday.

Pendleton County (7-0) visits Tucker County at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
