PARSONS — Ava Shaffer allowed just five hits over 6 1/3 innings as Tucker County blanked Elkins, 4-0, Thursday night at Camp Kidd.

Shaffer struck out four and walked one before giving way to Peyton Hicks, who didn’t allow a hit and fanned one.

Hailey Riffle, Mady Shreve, Madison Lambert, Morghan Cox and Serenity Shifflett accounted for the Lady Tigers’ hits.

Lambert and Addison Carr each pitched three innings for Elkins.

Lambert gave up one unearned run on two hits, with a strikeout, and Carr one unearned run on two hits, striking out four.

Hicks and Isabella Bennett had RBIs for Tucker County.

B-U 8, Grafton 3

GRAFTON — Buckhannon-Upshur scored five runs in the fifth inning en route to an 8-3 victory over Grafton Thursday in Big 10 Conference play.

Kynnedy Marple had an RBI triple, Avery Hamer a two-run single, Reagan Mason an RBI single and Taylor Spratt an RBI groundout in the frame.

Marple went all seven innings to earn the win, allowing three hits and fanning eight.

Lillie Crimm took the loss.

Mason, Madi Knabenshue, Marple and Hamer finished with two hits each for the Lady Bucs.

Isabella Hayhurst went 2 for 3 and Ruth Horne had an RBI for the Lady Bearcats.

B-U (9-7) hosts Fairmont Senior at 6 p.m. today.
