MILL CREEK -- In a pitchers' duel, Petersburg claimed a 2-0 win over Tygarts Valley on Tuesday night.
Payton Metheny gave up just four hits over 6 1/3 innings to earn the win for the Vikings, striking out 10 and walking one.
Peyton Tingler earned the save, retiring both batters he faced in the seventh.
Ian Harris was the hard-luck losing pitcher. He went all seven innings, yielding two unearned runs, striking out four with no walks.
Petersburg broke a scoreless contest on Trace Rohrbaugh's two-out, two-run single in the top of the seventh.
Austin Teter had two hits for the Bulldogs.
Rohrbaugh finished with two for the Vikings.
Tygarts Valley (7-5) remains home at 6 p.m. today to face Pendleton County.
Morgantown 12, B-U 2
TENNERTON -- Morgantown plated seven runs in the third inning to hand Buckhannon-Upshur a 12-2 setback in five innings on Tuesday evening.
Eli Boggs went 2 for 3 and knocked in four runs for the Mohigans. Weston Mazey and Ryan Nipper also had two hits each.
Maddox Boggs went the distance to earn the win, allowing just two hits and no earned runs, striking out five and walking four.
Wyatt Mason and Jaxon Spratt had RBIs for the Bucs.
Ethan Garvin took the loss for B-U. He gave up 11 runs on seven hits, fanning three and walking five.
B-U (7-9) hosts Point Pleasant at 5 p.m. today.
