B-U, PB, TV, Tucker and Harman athletes set to compete in state meet

CHARLESTON -- The high school state track meet gets underway today at University of Charleston Stadium at Laidley Field.
In the Class AAA portion of the meet, Buckhannon-Upshur will be represented individually by senior Jack Waggy in the 3,200-meter run.
He will also join senior Camdin Carpenter, junior Joey Nolte and sophomore Zack Simmons in competing in the 4×800 relay.
Sophomore Rylen Carlyle qualified in the long jump for the Lady Bucs.
Philip Barbour's entries in the Class AA meet include senior Drew Morral (100 and 200), junior Isaiah Starks (400), junior Patrick Webster (long jump), senior Jeremy Horne (shot put), junior Dylan Phillips (discus) and senior John McGee (discus).
Phillips was the regional champ with a toss of 138-03.
For the PB girls, junior Kayla Baker is competing in the 1,600 and senior Lily Miller the 3,200 and junior Kacey Cutright the discus.
Baker and Miller, along with juniors Brooklyn Chappell and Payton Holbert, qualified for the 4×800.
In Class A, Tygarts Valley junior Sarah Defibaugh qualified individually in the 100 and 200.
She will also team with junior Alyssa Swecker, senior Summer Lewis-Smith and sophomore Emily Smith in the 4×100.
The Tucker County boys qualified all five relay units -- the 4×100 (sophomore Lucas Barb and juniors Keelyn Eichelberger, Nate Ricottilli) and Reid Kisamore), the 4×200 (Barb, sophomore Oliver Archuleta, Ricottilli and Kisamore), the 4×400 (Ricottilli, Eichelberger, Barb and Kisamore), the 4×800 (junior Cameron Judy, sophomore Logan Kopec, junior Lynk Suesli and junior Alex Collar) and the shuttle hurdle (Kopec, senior Allen Collar, Alex Collar and senior Ryan Scott).
Individual qualifiers are Ricottilli (400), Judy (1,600), Suesli (3,200), Barb (high jump) and Kisamore (long jump).
Suesli was the regional champion in the 3,200 in a time of 10:23.93.
Representing the Lady Mountain Lions will be sophomore Lela Wright (100, 100 hurdles), junior Mayah Gross (400, 300 hurdles), junior Addi Moats (800), freshman Estoria Chase (1,600 and 3,200) and the shuttle hurdle relay (Wright, Moats, freshman Rachel Hile and Gross).
Wright captured the regional crown in the 100.
Harman sophomore Jessie Heavner will compete in the 400.
The state meet get underway at 2 p.m. today and concludes with the last event set for 5:10 p.m. on Saturday.
