MILL CREEK — Jacob Wamsley was a force on the mound and at the plate for top-seed Tygarts Valley in Thursday night’s 13-0 win over second-seed Tucker County in Class A, Region II tourney play.
The junior right-hander went the first three innings, limiting the Mountain Lions to just one hit, striking out six and not walking a batter.
At the plate, he finished 2 for 2 with three RBIs.
Jaxon Drennen, who recently signed to play at Potomac State, struck out all six batters he faced in finishing in relief as the game was halted after the top of the fifth inning due to the mercy rule.
The Bulldogs led 4-0 after two innings, then broke the game open with a nine-run third inning.

TV’s third-inning outburst was fueled by five hits, three walks and three hit-bats-men.
Ian Harris, Drennen, Wamsley and Austin Gear provided RBI singles, while Austin Teter scored a pair of runs with a single to left.
Wamsley’s two-run double in the first opened the scoring.
The Bulldogs tacked on two more runs in the second on Moore’s RBI single and a balk.
Moore and Drennen added two hits apiece in the contest.
Owen Bolyard had the lone hit for the Mountain Lions.
Cade Rapp was saddled with the loss in pitching the first inning, allowing two runs on three hits.
Bolyard and Luke Barb also saw time on the hill.
Bolyard had a pair of strikeouts.
Tucker County was slated to face Pocahontas County Friday in an elimination game.
The Bulldogs (18-7) will host the winner today, needing just one win to clinch the top bracket of the region and advance to a best-of-three final against either Pendleton County or East Hardy.
The Cougars won the opener of their best-of-three series against Pendleton County on Thursday.
The PVC rivals were scheduled to meet again on Friday evening in the second game of the series.
