ELKINS -- Elkins Middle School played host to the Mid-Mountain 10 Conference track and field championships Monday at Elkins High School.
The Lady Hornets placed second with 107.5 points, getting a first-place finish from the 4×800-meter relay (Ava White, Molly McFadden, Haley Kelley and Clara Pyles) in a school-record time of 10:56.34.
Placing second were the 4×60 shuttle hurdle relay team (Eva Collier, Lily Gard, Calleah Hinkle and Vivienne Shepherd) with an effort of 44.55, White in the 3,200 (13:18.52), Pyles the 1,600 (5:36.40), Kenadi Carte in the 200 hurdles (33.07) and Kaya Barnes the discus (62-09),
Isabella Drain-White was third in the shot put (30-01) and Carte third in the high jump (4-4).
The 4×200 relay (Barnes, Lily Hayes, Macie Sturdivant and Ariella Brown) was fourth in a time of 2:04.17 and Collier fourth in the long jump (13-8.5).
Finishing fifth were Collier in the 100 hurdles (19.46), the 4×100 relay (Brown, Collier, Everley Harper and Hayes) in a time of 1:00.03, the 4×400 relay (White, Kelley, Carte and Shepherd with an effort of 4:56.07 and Hayes tying for fifth in the high jump (4-02).
McFadden placed sixth in the 1,600 (6:10.27) and Kendall Ward sixth in the 3,200 (14:06.15).
Bridgeport racked up 202.5 points to capture first.
Lincoln (90) was third, Washington Irving (80) fourth, Buckhannon-Upshur (72) fifth, East Fairmont (57) sixth, Taylor County (33.5) seventh, Robert L. Bland eighth (32) and Mountaineer (Clarksburg) ninth (20.5).
Ella Whitehair captured the 800 (2:27.90) for B-UMS and joined Audrey Johnston, Lily Lewis and Hayden Anderson in placing second in the 4×400 in a time of 4:48.91.
Anderson had a leap of 4-8 to win the high jump, Lewis was fourth in the 200 hurdles (34.17), the 4×800 relay (Johnston, Lydia Tenney, Haleigh Skidmore and Ali Triplett) was fourth in a time of 11:35.50, Dayla Weatherholt fourth in the shot put (28-8) and Whitehair fourth in the high jump (4-2)
The EMS boys placed fifth with 62 points.
Kyan George was second in the long jump (16-9.25) and teamed with Hayzen Miller, Ethan Corley and Jacob Chenoweth to finish second in the 4×100 with a time of 52.73.
Thirds went to Chenoweth in the 100 (12.77), the 4×200 relay (Corley, Donivan Petrice, Grant Morgan and Miller) in a time 1:56.49 and the 4×800 relay (Reed Burdette, Braxton Rowan, Teddy Brosky and Luke Valentine) with an effort of 10:35.99.
Burdette, Petrice, Corley and Valentine were fourth in the 4×400 in 4:30.29 and George third in the 200 (26.68) and fifth in the 400 (1:00.22).
Valentine was fifth in the 800 (2:31.09) and Chenoweth fifth in the 100 hurdles (17.77) and sixth in the high jump (5-0).
Bridgeport won the league crown with 207 points, followed by East Fairmont (119), B-U (82.5) and Lincoln (73.5).
Taylor County (58) was sixth, Mountaineer (43) seventh, Washington Irving (25) eighth and Robert L. Bland (17) ninth.
The Little Bucs' Lucas Fortney was second in the 800 (2:22.62), Mason Conway third in the 800 (2:24.64), the 4×200 relay (Josh Curry, Joshua Thropp, Kash Bishop and Sabastian Rosencrance) finished second in a time of 1:56.44, the 4×400 relay (Kadeen Edwards, Conway, Fortney and Grayson Malcomb) second with an effort of 4:19.93, Kyler Baisden, Edwards, Bentley Jones and Rosencrance second in the 4×60 shuttle hurdle (40.96), Rosencrance fourth in the 100 hurdles (17.26) and fourth in the high jump (5-0) and Chance Cunningham fourth in the 100 (12.91).
Elkins will conclude the season Saturday at Bridgeport High School for the Harry Green Invitational.
