FAIRMONT — Fourth-seed Elkins avoided elimination in the Class AAA, Region I, Section 2 tournament for the second straight night on Friday with a 12-8 win over No. 2 Fairmont Senior.

The Lady Tigers (10-13) travel to top-seed Grafton today and will need to defeat the Lady Bearcats twice to capture the sectional crown.

Addison Carr had four RBIs in Friday’s win over the Lady Polar Bears.

She had a bases-clearing double in the fourth inning as Elkins scored six runs to take a 9-2 lead.

Serenity Shifflett added a two-run single during the uprising.

Carr also had a run-producing double in the first inning and Rileigh Wingfield an RBI groundout to make it 2-0.

Gabby Mahanes finished 4 for 5 for the Lady Tigers.

Hailey Riffle and Mady Shreve added two safeties apiece.

Maddie Lambert had an RBI single in the third for Elkins.

Carr and Lambert shared the pitching duties.

Carr went four innings, allowing six runs on five hits, striking out six and walking one.

Lambert went three frames, giving up two runs on four hits, fanning four and not issuing a walk.

Michaela Egidi was tagged with the loss. She gave up eight runs on 11 hits in five innings of action, striking out one and walking two.

Preslynn Feltz had a pair of RBIs for Fairmont Senior.

Ava Taylor and Talia Olivito collected two hits apiece in the contest.
