MOOREFIELD — No. 3 Philip Barbour was eliminated from the Class AA, Region II, Section 2 tourney in a 10-2 loss to No. 2 Moorefield on Thursday.

The Lady Colts finished the season 12-13-1.

The Lady Yellow Jackets scored three three in the first as Carlee Haines hit a two-run double and Raleigh Kuykendall and RBI groundout.

Philip Barbour got on the board in the second when Katelyn Cooper and Payton Holbert hit back-to-back doubles.

Moorefield tacked on a single run in the bottom of the frame and two more in the third to construct a 6-1 lead. Kerrigan Bergdall had a two-run triple in third.

Seanna Heavner’s RBI single in the fourth and Bergdall’s solo homer in the fifth extended the margin to 8-1.

Avery McDaniel led off the sixth for the Lady Colts’ final run.

Kuykendall and Heavner added RBI singles in the home-half of the frame to end the game due to the mercy rule.

Annie Barr went all six innings to earn the win, allowing five hits, striking out four and walking two.

McDaniel, appearing in her final game for the Lady Colts, was tagged with the loss. She struck out a pair and didn’t issue a walk.

The Lady Yellow Jackets travel to top-seed Petersburg today, needing two wins to win the sectional title.

CLARKSBURG — Robert C. Byrd pouned out 15 hits to claim a 10-3 win over Philip Barbour Thursday night in Big 10 Conference play.

Ashton Shaffer had four RBIs, including a two-run triple, to pace the Flying Eagles.

Kent Rowan took the loss, allowing seven run on nine hits in going the first 1 1/3 innings.

Jackson Wilson finished in relief, surrendering three runs on six hits.

Xavier Carvelli worked the first three innings to earn the win. He gave up one run on four hits, struck out five and walked one.

Anthony Mosesso had two hits and two RBIs for the Colts. Tyler Sisson had three hits, including a double.

Philip Barbour (17-5) is slated to visit Lincoln at 6:30 p.m. today for another league game.
