WVU adds JUCO running back

By Spencer Ripchik 2 min read

MORGANTOWN -- Over the past couple of days, West Virginia has slowed down in the transfer portal. Slowing down doesn't mean the same for West Virginia compared to most teams. Slowing down for West Virginia is adding just one player and not the mass additions the Mountaineers usually have had this spring. With that being said, West Virginia added another transfer late Friday night.

JUCO running back Cyncir Bowers announced via X he's transferring to West Virginia with three years of eligibility left.

At Iowa Central Community College, Bowers rushed 155 times for 1,008 yards and 12 touchdowns his freshman season. He also caught 24 passes for 363 yards and two scores.

Bowers is a versatile back that'll be another developmental piece for Rich Rodriguez, who has recruited a couple of JUCO players this spring.

The Harrisburg, Pennsylvania native, becomes the third running back added this spring. West Virginia added two 1,000-yard rushers along with Jaylan Knighton. Knighton is one of the bigger additions this portal period from SMU and Miami, providing more depth behind starting back Jahiem White. White was banged up this spring, so more depth helps with insurance.

West Virginia continues to make roster additions despite being far over the total of 105 players. Rodriguez and staff have until a week up until the season to be finalized.

Starting at /week.
