Area athletes to take part in basketball and football events

SOUTH CHARLESTON — It will be a busy slate of all-star action for several area athletes this weekend.
The North-South All-Star basketball games get underway for both the boys and girls this evening at the South Charleston Community Center.
A skills competition starts at 5 p.m., followed by the girls game at 6 p.m. and the boys contest at 7:30 p.m.
Tucker County’s Trevan Bonner is a member of the North team, along with Baustin Bowers (Liberty-Harrison), Jayden Bryant (Williamstown), Keshaun Creek (Martinsburg), La’Danien Cumberledge (Fairmont), Navier Hewitt (Parkersburg South), Cruz Isaly (Williamstown), Marty Johnson (Morgantown, Preston Luzader (Clay-Battelle), Ben Putnam (Lewis County), Parker Schramm (Williamstown) and Phoenix Sickles (Bridgeport).
The South team is comprised of Jalon Bailey (Shady Spring), Ethan Blackburn (Cabell Midland), Ashton Davis (Tug Valley), Noah Dawson (Ravenswood), Andrew Fitzwater (Greater Beckley Christian), Joey Gollihue (Chapmanville), Roman Kellum (South Charleston), Isaac Meddings (Wayne), Clay Robertson (Spring Valley), Trey Stump (Nicholas County), Kadien Vance (Westside and Jaylon Walton (Woodrow Wilson).

Suiting up for the North squad in the girls contest will be Elkins High’s Maddie Belan, Buckhannon-Upshur’s Alyssa Abel, Tucker County’s Raven Matthews and Pendleton County’s Avery Townsend, who also was slated to play in the all-star softball game Thursday at Buffalo.
The remainder of the North team includes Kaitlyn Blake (Wheeling Central), Kilah Dandridge (Spring Mills), Addie Davis (St. Marys), Allie Ellyson (Gilmer County), Maci Neely (Cameron), Faith Pickens (Williamstown), Hannah Stemple (University) and Selena Wilson (Notre Dame).
The South roster features Brooke Adkins (Wayne), Addyson Amick (Logan), Alexandra Anderson (Hurricane), Cadee Blackburn (Wyoming East), Maggie Boroski (James Monroe), Kynadee Britton (Sissonville), Laila Campbell (Riverside), Brooke Christian (Chapmanville), Halle Crouse (Logan), Allie Daniels (Spring Valley), Jaycee Elzy (St. Albans), Addisyn Smith (Mingo Central), Natalie Smith (Nitro), Preslee Treadway (Greenbrier West) and Adrienne Truman (Nicholas County).
Saturday at South Charleston High School, Philip Barbour lineman John McGee and Pendleton County receiver Josiah Kimble will take part in the North-South All-Star Football Classic set to begin at noon.
The South won last year’s meeting, 21-20, in overtime.
