PHILADELPHIA — Elkins High School’s Marissa Brenwalt represented the Tiger track & field program on one of the sport’s biggest stages this weekend at the New Balance National Outdoor championships.

NBNO takes place at Philadelphia’s historic Franklin Field and accepts student-athletes from across the country who meet stringent qualifying standards. Brenwalt’s regular season bests in the high jump (5’4″) and 100 hurdles (15.20) earned qualifying berths in the NBNO freshman division for those events.

At NBNO on Friday afternoon, Brenwalt cleared 5’0.25″ to place 15th out of 47 competitors in the freshman girls high jump.

On Saturday morning, Brenwalt returned to action with a 15.44 second clocking in the 100m freshman hurdle trials. Her time was the 26th best out of 61 competitors in that event.

“Competing at NBNO was an unforgettable and special experience,” said Brenwalt. “The crowd was loud and there were so many great runners and people there that I met. I’m going to continue to work hard so I can hopefully return next year.”

In addition to being a track star for the Tigers, Brenwalt is also a member of the EHS volleyball team and she is considering playing basketball this winter.
