PB’s McDaniel, Tucker’s Shaffer playing in all-star game
BUFFALO — Philip Barbour’s Avery McDaniel and Tucker County’s Ava Shaffer will participate in today’s All-Star Softball game.
McDaniel and Shaffer will suit up for the Region 2 squad, which also includes Baylee Beachler, Avery Townsend and Lizzie Alt for Class A state champion Pendleton County.
The remainder of the Region 2 team includes Lewis County’s Ashley Crook and Courtney Boggs, Bridgeport’s Kyleigh Anderson and Renzy Pethel, Lincoln’s Riley Pearlman and Doddridge County’s Oliva See.
Lewis County’s John Boggs (head coach) and Payton Campbell (assistant) will serve as the Region 2 coaches.
Region 2 faces Region 1 and Region 3 squares off against Region 4.
The games get underway at 9 a.m., followed by the consolation (2 p.m.) and championship (4 p.m.) games.
The Region 1 squad includes three players from the Big 10 Conference in Grafton’s Chelsea Mauller and Karigan Wildrout, along with East Fairmont’s Gracie Snyder.
Grafton’s Gary Chambers is the Region 1 head coach, with his assistants Andrea Chambers and Juliana Cipressi also on the staff.
