Post 29 will not field team rest of summer

ELKINS -- Elkins Post 29 will not field an American Legion baseball team this summer as the result of low numbers.
Post 29 had opened the season this past Friday at Garrett County (Md.).
The team includes current and past players from Elkins High, Tygarts Valley and Philip Barbour.
"We are disappointed to not be able to finish the season due to a lack of players," Elkins Post 29 manager Phil Wilson told The Inter-Mountain on Tuesday. "We appreciate all the young men who came out this year."
Wilson said folding the team for the 2025 campaign is a bump in the road, as plans for the future are bright in regards to the proud program.
"We are committed to having (Post) 29 back in action next season.
"Again, this is just a minor setback to the organization, and we will be back stronger than ever next year."
Meanwhile, Buckhannon Post 7 began its season earlier this month.
Post 7's roster includes current and former players from Buckhannon-Upshur, Philip Barbour, Lewis County, University and Trinity Christian.
Buckhannon is currently 2-5 on the young season, earning wins over Clarksburg Post 13 and Moundsville Post 3 over the weekend.
In the 13-9 win over Post 3 on Sunday, Jerin Westfall had three hits and knocked in three runs, Luke Clem a three-run homer, Tucker Mason three hits and Jevon Westfall and Nick Gonzales two hits apiece.
