Beam, Tigers cruise to win over Lincoln
SHINNSTON — Logan Beam rushed for 147 yards and five scores as Elkins cruised to a 54-21 win over Lincoln Friday night in Big 10 Conference play.
Beam, who played his freshman season for the Tigers before transferring to Philip Barbour, found the end zone four times in over the first two quarters as Elkins scored on all five of its first-half possessions in building a 35-7 halftime lead.
Dyer Barger was good on all five of his extra-point attempts.
Jaden Hatfield added a 23-yard scamper in the first quarter. He finished with 140 yards on the ground on the evening.
The Cougars got on the board late in the second quarter when Coalton Edwards busted loose for an 84-yard kickoff return.
Beam scored his fifth TD on a 1-yard score in the third quarter and Hatfield tacked on a 21-yard run.
Malachi Fraser also scored on a fumble return in the second half for Elkins.
Seth Robinson added 143 yards rushing for the Tigers, who amassed over 400 yards rushing and scored over 50 points in a game since putting up 55 against Oak Hill in 2016.
A.J Bart threw for 160 yards and a score to Riley for the Cougars. Edwards had nine receptions for 93 yards.
Connor Rice added a TD run on the game’s final play for Lincoln.
Elkins will make its home debut next Friday evening against Moorefield.
