Tiger golfers capture triangular match with Moorefield, RCB

ELKINS — The Elkins High School golf team picked up a triangular match win over Moorefield and Big 10 Conference foe Robert C. Byrd in the home opener Wednesday at the Elks Golf Course.

The Tigers carded a 164, followed by Moorefield (185) and RCB (201).

Sophomore Kendrick Smith shot a 38 to earn low-medalist honors for the Tigers.

Junior Luca Collier and Lincoln Fletcher added 41s, junior Dreyton Boggs a 44, sophomore Dyer Barger a 45 and junior Isaac Shepler a 47 for Elkins.

Drake Kimble had a 41 to pace Moorefield and Dylan Stephens led RCB with a 48.

“Playing on our home course we were able to to feel more comfortable and play better,” Tigers coach Dave Baird said. “Hopefully we can take this confidence when we travel to Bridgeport to for a regional preview against Bridgeport, Keyser and Preston.”

The Tigers visited Bridgeport on Thursday evening. They will remain on the road Monday at Fairmont Senior.
