ELKINS — Elkins kicked off the season with a 7-0 win over Philip Barbour Monday night at Tiger Stadium.

The Tigers tallied five first-half goals to take control, as Tucker Cutright scored on a free kick in the 25th minute and Elliot Arbogast on a header off a corner just 3 minutes later.

With just under 10 minutes left in the first half, Cutright scored his second goal of the night to make it 3-0.

Arbogast then added his second score on a volley off a corner kick and Luke Valentine found the back of the net with 5 minutes to go in the opening half to extend the lead to 5-0.

Tristan Whited scored in the 30th minute and Wyatt Chenoweth in the 27th minute of the second half to conclude the scoring.

“This was a good result to start the season,” EHS coach Scott Cutright said. “I was really pleased with our effort tonight and especially our execution on set pieces as we scored three of our first four goals on corners and free kicks.

“It’s also great to have a shutout as well so hopefully we can continue this type of play throughout the season.”

The Tigers were slated to remain home Tuesday night against South Harrison.

Starting at $3.92/week.
