ELKINS — Elkins remained unbeaten on the season with a 2-1 victory over regional and Big 10 Conference foe Lewis County Thursday night at Tiger Stadium.

The match was tied 1-1 at the halftime break.

‘The boys played really well to start the game, but we didn’t put enough of our chances away early in the game and we gave Lewis County the opportunity to fight back.” Tigers coach Scott Cutright said.  “We didn’t play our best and Lewis County made us work the entire match, but in the end it was a big win against a regional opponent.”

Elkins is now 8-0-3 and 4-0-2 in Big 10 action and will host Winfield at noon today.

In the girls contest, the Lady Tigers dropped a 1-0 verdict to the Minutemaids.

Elkins will visit Grafton on Tuesday evening for another Big 10 tilt.
