FAIRMONT — Elkins finished third in a five-team Big 10 Conference match Wednesday at Green Hills Country Club.

The Tigers tallied a 171, with Bridgeport placing first with a 156 and Preston second with a 167.

Robert C. Byrd (192) and North Marion (209) rounded out the field.

“As a team we are starting to all play better, yet our mental mistakes are costing us to not score as well as we are playing,” EHS coach Dave Baird said. “When we can fix those mistakes it could let us play with any team out there.”

Dreyton Boggs led the Tigers with a 42, followed by Kendrick Smith, Lincoln Fletcher and Luca Collier all with 43s and Braden Cooper with a 49.

Bridgeport’s Alexander Randolph was low-medalist with a 34.

The Tigers travel to Valley View Golf Club in Moorefield on Monday for an 18- hole match.
