Elkins Middle School soccer teams defeat Barbour County

ELKINS — The Elkins Middle School girls soccer team claimed a 3-0 win over Barbour County on Monday evening.

Kendall Ward put the Lady Hornets on the board 29 minutes into the match off of a pass from Caitlynn Dempsey.

Nearly 6 minutes into the second half, Railen Plauger put the ball in the back of the net, and then with a minute remaining in regulation, Ward scored again off of a deflection from Pearl Putzulu.

“The girls did a great job of keeping it simple and finding open teammates,” EMS coach Andrew Roidt said. “Their passing has continued to get sharper as the season progresses.”

On Saturday at home, the Lady Hornets and Central Preston ended in a scoreless draw in a game cut short at halftime due to lightning.

Elkins returns to action at 6 p.m. today at Mannington.
