Elkins Middle soccer teams split with Liberty
CLARKSBURG — The Elkins Middle School soccer teams split with Liberty on Monday evening.
The Hornets dropped a 3-0 verdict, while the EMS girls claimed a 2-0 win.
“We played hard and had some shots on goal,” EMS boys coach Drew Thomas said. “But we just couldn’t connect.”
In the girls match, Kendall Ward had a goal off an assist from Grace Fletcher, who later found the back of the net of a helper from Ward for the Lady Hornets.
“I was very pleased with our passing tonight, especially in the second half” said EMS girls coach Andrew Roidt, whose team is now 3-0-1.
“This game was one of our most complete games this season.”
Both teams will face Central Preston Saturday at Elkins High School, with the girls taking the field at 11 a.m. and the boys following at 1 p.m.
