Five players net goals as Tigers blank Knights

KINGWOOD — Five different players found the back of the net to lead Elkins to a 5-0 victory over Preston Tuesday evening in Big 10 Conference play.

The Tigers are now 7-0-3 on the season.

“We had a pretty good plan going into this game and I thought the boys did a great job executing on the attacking end,” EHS coach Scott Cutright said. “We defended well again and collected a shutout as a result.”

Luke Valentine scored the game’s first goal in the 24th minute of the first half off an assist from Tucker Cutright.

With 10 minutes left in the opening half, Derek Bailey tallied a goal off a free kick to make it 2-0.

Cutright then garnered his second helper of the evening on Elliot Arbogast’s score off a corner kick with 5 minutes as the Tigers took a 3-0 lead at the break.

Cutright scored on a header off an assist from Tristan Whited, who added the final score to account for the second-half goals.

Elkins hosts Lewis County at 7:30 p.m. today.

“We have to refocus and be in top form for an extremely important regional contest against Lewis County,” coach Cutright added.
