TV golfers place third in PVC championship

FRANKLIN — Tygarts Valley turned in a third-place showing in the Potomac Valley Conference championship held over Fisher Mountain Golf Club on Tuesday.

Six teams battled for the title, with Petersburg — the lone Class AA team among the field — carding a team-total 337 in the 18-hole event.

Pendleton County was second with a 374, followed by the Bulldogs (379), Tucker County (426), East Hardy (461) and Union (523).

Petersburg’s Lucas Riggleman carded a 73 to earn low-medalist laurels.

Teammate Matthew Riggleman was runner-up with an 84.

Owen Bell led Tygarts Valey with a 92.

Mason Phillips tallied a 93, Alijah Row-Sponaugle a 95, Parker Bell a 99 and Cooper Markley a 114.

Nathan Davis led the Mountain Lions with an 89, while Pendleton County’s low man was Dylan Eye with an 87 and Braylon Edwards paced Union with a 114.

Tygarts Valley also placed third in the Highlands Invitational held last week at Fisher Mountain Golf Club.

The Bulldogs finished with a team-total 194.

Joseph Davisson earned low-medalist honors with a 40 and Dylan Hall and Makenzie Egress added 41s as Lewis County (170) won the title.

Petersburg (173) was second, Pendleton County (195) fourth and Tucker County (218) fifth.

Row-Sponaugle and Owen Bell carded 47s to pace the Bulldogs, followed by Phillips (49), Markley (51), Parker Bell (53) and Jakub Rader (65).

The runner-up Vikings were paced by Matthew Riggleman’s 42, Lucas Difalco had a 48 for the Wildcats and Davis a 46 for the Mountain Lions.
