TENNERTON — Some of the top teams in the state will compete in today’s Big 10 Conference Championships hosted by Buckhannon-Upshur.

The girls take to the course at 4:30 p.m., followed by the boys at approximately 5:15 p.m.

Bridgeport and Elkins are the favorites in the girls race, as they are first and third, respectively, in the Class AAA RunWV Power Rankings.

Fairmont Senior (seventh) and Grafton (ninth) are also among the top 10 in the rankings, while Lincoln is fourth in Class AA.

The Lady Tigers’ Emilia Tenney and Julia Biola, along with Bridgeport freshman Zoe Zervos and Lincoln’s Raley Cochran are the front-runners for the individual title.

Elkins, which won the Class AA state title in 2024 and is currently ranked first in Class AAA, will be challenged in the boys event by No. 2 Grafton and fourth-ranked Bridgeport.

No. 7 Fairmont Senior and No. 9 East Fairmont also look to make some noise, as Class AA, second-ranked Lincoln.

The Tigers are paced by top-ranked and defending state champion Trevor George, Josh Bodkins and Ben Tenney, with Fairmont Senior’s Landon Jones and Grafton’s Colson Annon other contenders.

After today’s meet, Elkins and several other Big 10 schools will take part in the Class AAA, Region II and I Championships to be held Saturday, Oct. 25, at Preston High School.

B-U will compete in the Class AAAA South Region Championships on the same day at Huntington High School.

The state meet will be held Nov. 1 at Cabell Midland High School in Ona.

Starting at $3.92/week.
