Bulldogs place sixth at states
WHEELING — The Tygarts Valley golf team placed sixth in the two-day state tournament held Tuesday and Wednesday at Ogelbay Park.
The Bulldogs tallied a two-day total 608.
Pendleton County placed eighth with a 615.
Charleston Catholic (495) won the Class A title.
Tucker County’s Nathan Davis finished 11th individually with a two-day total 183, while teammate Andrew Simmons (212) tied for 28th.
TV was led by Alijah Row-Sponaugle’s 187, followed by Parker Bell (205), Owen Bell (212) and Mason Phillips (216).
Row-Sponaugle finished in 13th.
Charleston Catholic’s Will Gruse won the indivudual title with a 7-over, 149.
Other state champions were George Washington (Class AAAA), Shady Spring (AAA) and Doddridge County (A).
Petersburg placed third in double-A and were led by Matthew Riggleman, who tied for second individually with a 162.
