Colts leap to third in ratings
Tigers drop to 13th; Tucker County moves to seventh in Class A

ELKINS — Philip Barbour jumped up eight spots in this week’s WVSSAC playoff ratings released on Tuesday after knocking off Elkins on Friday.
The Colts (3-2) moved from 11th to third in Class AA, behind top-rated Independence and No. 2 Frankfort.
No. 4 Petersburg and Mingo Central round out the top five.
Philip Barbour entertains South Harrison on Friday evening.
The Tigers, meanwhile, fell seven spots to 13th in the triple-A ranks.
Elkins (4-1) will go to battle a night early this week for Mountain State Forest Festival week, hosting Grafton at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Bridgeport is first in Class AA, followed by Greenbrier East, Princeton, Fairmont Senior and Nitro.
In Class A, it will be battle of top 10 teams Friday night in Parsons when No. 7 Tucker County (4-1) entertains No. 4 Pendleton County (3-1).
The Mountain Lions moved up one spot after last Friday night’s win over Webster County.
The Wildcats also went up one position after a home victory over Tygarts Valley.
Wheeling Central is No. 1 in Class A, with Wahama second, Sherman third and Meadow Bridge fifth.
Morgantown is first in Class AAAA, George Washington second, Wheeling Park and Huntington tied for third and University fifth.
The top 16 teams in each class qualify for the playoffs.
