ELKINS — Davis & Elkins College proudly recognized the 2025 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees during Homecoming & Family Weekend in the McDonnell Center. Inductions, honoring several outstanding individuals and recognized teams of the College, highlight a group whose dedication and excellence have left an indelible mark on the College’s athletic program.

Inductees included Paul Ackerman, ’80, Baseball; Dave Archbold, ’88, Men’s Soccer; Megan Beal Daft, ’10, Women’s Soccer; Donnie MacGregor, ’07, Men’s Soccer and Skiing; Katie MacGregor, ’08, Women’s Soccer and Skiing; Guy Sievert, Golf Coach; 1968- & 1970-Men’s Soccer Teams, NAIA National Champions.

Ackerman was a two-year starter at catcher for the Senators, helping D&E capture the 1979 division championship and finishing his career with a .339 batting average and .995 fielding percentage. Following graduation, he signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, playing professionally from 1979 to 1983. He later coached West Virginia University, contributing to four Atlantic 10 titles and an NCAA Tournament appearance. Ackerman was inducted into the National Semi-Pro Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022.

Archbold earned All-Conference honors in each of his four seasons during the mid-1980s, alongside three All-Region nods and recognition as an All-American in 1986. Following graduation, he continued his soccer journey in Ireland, competing at the semi-professional level until 1998. He later transitioned to coaching, guiding both school and national teams in Dublin. Today, Archbold serves as Irish Schools National Secretary and sits on the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) General Assembly, continuing to shape the future of the sport across Ireland.

Daft was an impact player for D&E women’s soccer, earning All-Conference recognition three times alongside her standout classroom performance that netted two Academic All-American awards. Her senior season featured First Team All-Conference and All-Region honors and a nod as Second Team All-American. Daft graduated with a chemistry degree before earning a Doctor of Pharmacy from West Virginia University. Today, her career as an antimicrobial stewardship pharmacist and personal journey as cyclist and youth coach display balance between community service and professional development.

Donnie MacGregor starred for both men’s soccer and ski teams. As a pitcher, he was a four-year starter and team captain, earning All-Conference recognition each season and helping the Senators to capture their first winning record in over a decade. On the slopes, he earned four Allegheny Conference titles and placed on the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship podium every year. After graduation, MacGregor pursued professional soccer overseas in Poland, Belgium, Australia, and New Zealand. Today, he is a FIFA Licensed Agent and Finance Manager in Ottawa.

Katie MacGregor followed her brother’s footsteps as a two-sport standout, leaving a unique mark on the College’s athletic history with back-to-back First Team All-Conference, All-Region, and Academic All-American honors on the field and in the classroom. As a skier, she was a four-time Allegheny Conference leader, top regional competitor, and conference champion in 2006 and 2007, representing the College at nationals in 2006. MacGregor served as Chief Medical Officer for the Canadian National Ski Team from 2015-2020, accompanying as team physician for the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Sievert served as head coach of the D&E golf program from the mid-1970s to early 1980s, building teams that regularly competed on the national stage. Under his leadership, the Senators captured two conference championships, two runner-up finishes, and made four straight trips to the NAIA National Championships, where they twice placed in the top 20. Nominated for induction by former player Greg Brown, ’81, Sievert is remembered as both a strategist and mentor whose impact extended beyond competition.

The 1968- and 1970-men’s soccer teams gave Davis & Elkins College its first two national titles and established the Senators as a national powerhouse. Led by Head Coach Greg Myers, the 1968 team finished with an undefeated record of thirteen wins, zero losses, and two ties, and claimed the NAIA National Championship with a 2-1 win over Quincy (Ill.) in five overtimes — the longest title match in tournament history at that time. Two years later, D&E went back to the final, where D&E defeated Quincy again, 2-0. With two national championships in a three-year span, these teams helped to define an era of success and cement the College’s legacy in soccer.

“It was such an honor to induct the 2025 slate of Hall of Fame honorees,” says Athletic Director Jennifer Riggleman. “What a wonderful opportunity we had to hear about the exceptional contributions of these athletes to the institution on the pitch, court, and field. In addition to their athletic accomplishments, the weekend allowed us to learn more about their time at D&E and how they have continued to make the College proud through their achievements after graduation.”
