ELKINS — Logan Beam and Seth Robinson each found the end zone twice and went over 1,000 yards rushing for the season as Class AAA, No. 13 Elkins picked up a 31-7 win over Brooke Friday night at Tiger Stadium.
It was the Tigers’ first-ever win over the Bruins, with the losses coming in the playoffs in 1980 and 1992.
The teams exchanged possessions until Beam busted loose for an 80-yard scamper with 4 minutes left in the first quarter to make it 7-0 after Dyer Barger’s conversion kick.
The run put Beam, one of the EHS seniors honored on the night, over the 1,000-yard plateau.
The Tiger defense, which held Brooke to less than 80 yards rushing and collected two interceptions on the night, later held the Bruins on downs inside of the EHS 10-yard line.

A 32-yard connection from Nate Sauerwein to Xavier Workman and three major penalties whistled against Brooke led to Barger’s 22-yard field goal that made it 10-0 in the second quarter.
Each team found the end zone inside of 5 minutes left in the first half, as Robinson busted loose for 56 yards and Michael Gibson hauled in a 16-yard pass from Ty Sperringer.
It was the only points of the evening, however, for the visitors, with Beam tacking in a 55-yard scoring run with 2:28 left in the third quarter and Robinson adding a 32-yard scamper midway through the final canto.
Beam finished with 167 yards on the night, while Robinson tallied 111.
Sauerwein completed 3 of 5 passes for 54 yards. Workman had two receptions for 44 yards.
Sperringer had 164 yards passing. Gibson and Grant Yost had six catches apiece.
Elkins (6-3) will be idle next week and close the regular season Nov. 7 at Preston.
The Bruins dropped to 3-6 and visit rival Weir next Friday.
