EMS girls, boys fall to Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT — The Elkins Middle School boys and girls soccer teams fell to Bridgeport on Wednesday evening.
The Lady Hornets dropped a 2-1 verdict, while the boys lost a 4-0 decision.
In the girls match, Bridgeport scored off of a penalty kick in the first half and scored its second goal in the second half.
With 9 minutes left to play, Caitlynn Dempsey scored off a pass from Grace Fletcher for EMS.
“I’m proud of the girls for the fight that they showed in tonight’s game,” Lady Hornets coach Andrew Roidt said. “They challenged a very strong opponent down to the wire. We’re proving that we can compete with strong competition.”
The EMS girls are now 7-2-2 and host East Fairmont at 6 p.m. today.
