ELKINS -- The Elkins Middle School boys and girls soccer teams fell to Taylor County on eighth-grade recognition night on Monday.
The Lady Hornets dropped a 3-2 decision.
The Lady Knights scored 46 seconds into the match, before Elkins answered at the 10-minute mark with a goal by Kendall Ward off a cross from Grace Fletcher.
Taylor County scored against 7 minutes later but Fletcher responded with a goal 29 minutes into the contest off a through ball from Caitlynn Dempsey.
The visitors finished the scoring off a corner kick 7 minutes into the second half.
"Taylor County is a very skilled team, and we made them earn that win," EMS coach Andrew Roidt said. "I'm proud of how the girls fought back to tie the game multiple times after being down."
The Lady Hornets are now 7-1-2 and will visit Bridgeport at 6 p.m. today and return home at 6 p.m. Friday to face East Fairmont.
In the boys contest, Taylor County claimed a 2-1 win over Elkins.
Maddox Crawford scored for the Hornets, who will also venture to Bridgeport at 7:30 p.m. today.
