Lady Hornets blank RLB; TV golfers place second
WESTON — The Elkins Middle School girls soccer team posted a 6-0 win over Robert L. Bland on Monday evening.
Grace Fletcher started the scoring less than 5 minutes into the contest on a pass from Kendall Ward.
Railen Plauger and Kinley Koch also added goals in the first half.
Early in the second half, Eva Collier scored off of an assist from Koch.
Lovelyn Tierney added a pair of second-half goals, one coming off an assist by Fletcher.
“It was another nice win and our fourth shutout of the season,” Lady Hornets coach Andrew Roidt said. “We had multiple players score and for some, it was their first goal of the season.”
Elkins (6-0-2) will entertain RLB in a rematch at 7:30 p.m. today at Tiger Stadium.

Bulldogs place second
ROANOKE — The Tygarts Valley golf team placed second in a tri-match at the Palmer Course at Stonewall Resort.
The Bulldogs turned in a team-score of 137 — four strokes behind Lewis County’s 133.
Clay-Battelle (161) completed the field.
The Minutemen’s Dylan Hall was low medalist with a 41.
Alijah Row-Sponaugle led the Bulldogs with a 42 to finish second overall on the day. Parker Bell (43), Mason Phillips (52) and Owen Bell (54) rounded out the TV scoring.
Ryan Parker carded a 47 for the Cee Bees.
