Wamsley, Gear fuel Bulldogs to win over Richwood

MILL CREEK — Jacob Wamsley scored a pair of touchdowns and Tygarts Valley snapped a four-game losing streak with a 29-12 victory over Richwood Thursday night at Bulldog Field.
The Bulldogs (2-4) jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the contest when Adam Woods raced in for a 17-yard touchdown midway through the first quarter.
Both teams were plagued by turnovers throughout the remainder of the first half and Tygarts Valley held a six-point advantage at the break.
The Lumberjacks (0-5) struck first in the second half and tied the contest at six early in the third quarter when Fawkes O’Dell returned a punt 75 yards to paydirt.
The Bulldogs reclaimed the lead late in the third stanza when Wamsley ran in for a 19-yard touchdown. Noah McAtee added the two-point conversion after Wamsley’s score to make it 14-6.

The Bulldogs extended their lead to 22-12 after a 5-yard touchdown run by freshman Connor Rose with 9:19 left to play. Wamsley scampered in for the two-point conversion.
Tygarts Valley iced the victory with 1:19 left in regulation when Wamsley rumbled in for a 6-yard touchdown run.
The Bulldogs had a strong night running the ball and were led by Austin Gear, who ran for 122 yards on 16 carries. Woods followed with 96 yards on seven attempts, while Wamsley tallied 37 yards on four totes.
Tygarts Valley will travel to Baker to battle East Hardy next Friday. Richwood will entertain Clay-Battelle the same evening.
