West Liberty edges Senators; EHS booters fall
WEST LIBERTY — Davis & Elkins dropped a 1-0 verdict to West Liberty Wednesday in Mountain East Conference play.
Jasper Newlon scored off an assist from Joao Victor Sylvino with 29 seconds left in the first half for the game’s lone goal.
D&E held a 7-3 edge on shots on goal and 9-3 advantage on corner kicks. Charlie Phillips had two saves for the Senators in goal and Shai’ya Fitzgerald seven for West Liberty, which improved to 4-5-3 overall and 3-4-2 in the MEC.
The Senators are now 6-3-3 and 6-2-3 and return home at 2 p.m. Sunday to battle the No. 3 University of Charleston for another league match.

EHS squads fall
BRIDGEPORT — Three different players recorded two goals each to lead Bridgeport to a 7-0 win over Elkins in a matchup of Big 10 Conference and regional foes Tuesday evening.
Riel Figueroa, Tucker Pomeroy and Grayson Church all found the back of the net for the Indians, who improved to 16-1-2 overall and 10-0-1 in league play.
Eli Terebus also tallied a goal, while Figueroa added a pair of assists as well.
The Tigers dropped to 11-3-4 and 7-2-2 on the season..
In the preliminary girls match between the schools, Bridgeport claimed a 6-0 victory over the Lady Tigers.
