Area runners compete in ‘Night of Sweet 1,600s’ postseason event

PARKERSBURG — A trio of Elkins High School runners recently traveled to Parkersburg to compete in the “Night of Sweet 1,600s” postseason event.
Trevor George, Josh Bodkins and Bobby Valentine all showed that their aerobic fitness from cross country translated well to this four lap track event.
George was the top local finisher, posting a new personal best time of 4:22.54 to place second behind Morgantown’s Joaquin Summers (1st, 4:20.08). Elkins’ Bodkins finished eighth in the same heat in 4:29.23 while teammate Valentine won his heat in the “Emerging Elite” division with a new personal best time of 4:43.82.
