Bulldogs cruise by Generals

MILL CREEK. — Austin Gear rushed for 224 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns as Tygarts Valley ended the season with a 32-6 victory over Montcalm Friday night at Bulldog Field.

The Bulldogs jumped out to an 8-0 lead early in the second quarter when Elijah Stanley intercepted a pass and raced into the end zone for a score. Gear added the 2-point conversion on a run after Stanley’s touchdown.

After another Stanley interception early in the third quarter set up a 77-yard touchdown run from Gear as Tygarts Valley stretched its lead to 14-0 at the 9:31 mark.

The Generals (4-6) cut the deficit to 14-6 with 2:39 left in the third quarter when Tyler Stevenson scored on a 3-yard run.

The Bulldogs answered on the ensuing drive when Gear broke free for a 55-yard touchdown to make it 20-6 with 1:05 left in the third.

Sacks

Conner Rose pushed the Tygarts Valley lead to 26-6 when he scored on a 15-yard run with 7:00 remaining in regulation.

Adam Woods iced the game for the Bulldogs when he scored on a 15-yard run late in regulation.

Gear and Preston Smith chipped in with interceptions for Tygarts Valley’s defense, which forced five turnovers in the contest.

The Bulldogs finished the season with a 3-7 mark.

With Veterans Day upcoming on Tuesday, United States Army Veteran Robin Sacks helped get the evening started by singing the National Anthem before kickoff.
